Gerardine O’Leary

I am originally from County Limerick but have been living in Clare for a number of years.

My painting journey began with a painting holiday in watercolours over 30 years ago.   Afterwards, I  began to experiment and explore watercolour techniques/ textures. Many of my paintings have been inspired by the rugged landscapes along the western seaboard including some of the islands off the Irish coast.  When I sit down to paint the subject, I try to recreate the atmosphere, mood and beauty of the surrounding landscape using a palette of earthy tones in my own unique style.

Trees are one of my favourite painting subjects and are enchanting to depict throughout the seasons, some of my latest studies include watercolour washes with pen and inks.

I have been involved in many group exhibitions  as a member of Inis Artists and some past venues include Glor (Ennis), Grainstore at Ballymaloe, Index Gallery in Waterford and Dunamaise Art Centre, Portlaoise to name a few.

I have also exhibited at the Ardmore Gallery and Lucy Erridge Gallery Adare.

Many of my paintings are included in private collections in Ireland, United Kingdom, America, Australia and Taiwan.
