BIO

I am originally from Dublin but moved to Clare 30 years ago. I started my painting life after retiring from a career in computing. I am self-taught and have mostly worked in watercolours.

I am strongly influenced by JMW Turner and especially his watercolours. But I also take inspiration from many contemporary artists.

Living in East Clare has also greatly inspired me because of the landscapes, skyscapes and the natural world that surrounds me on a daily basis. I also like to travel and the old buildings, towns and villages of Spain are another source of inspiration. Over the years I have also experimented with abstract paintings and the use of other mediums such as acrylic paints and inks and pastels.

I have had two solo exhibitions in the past few years here in Mountshannon where I live. I have also exhibited at the annual Mountshannon Arts Festival and recently at the SUIL gallery in Ennis.
